Teach for northern Kenya is an umbrella that brings together youth led organizations and other actors to intervene in educational situation of former North Eastern Region and Upper Eastern. The intervention is designed to help the students focus mainly through motivations such as family tree mentorship, teaching during the holidays by the university students, and scholarship package specifically for teaching courses.
Teaching during the holidays entails students at the tertiary levels and other professionals who wishes to volunteer during their free time at least for one month apply to the Teach for Northeastern Kenya. The team established by the intervention will shortlist and allocate schools on voluntary basis. The T4NK team will introduce the volunteers to the schools and subjects allocated depending on their strength.
T4NK scholarship package for teaching degree and Diploma will be introduced. Through a competitive process 50 students will be awarded scholarship to pursue their dream in teaching with agreement of teaching in northern Kenya for 10 years.
The partners herein therefore seek to host a fundraiser for the T4NK intervention in partnership with Ministry of Education, the political leaders of the region, educational actors and County governments to further strengthen education in Northern Kenya.
